Prioritizing Transparency In Our Legal Fees
Fees You Can Afford,
We challenge you to find many other law firms that will disclose their fees online. We strive to be very transparent to avoid surprises.
Keep reading to learn how we do it.
All new potential clients are offered a free 15-minute telephone consultation. This is our opportunity to discuss your legal issue, answer some basic questions, make recommendations, and discuss cost estimates.
We also offer full consultations that typically last 60 to 90 minutes. We can meet in our office or talk by telephone; whichever you prefer. Full consultations are billed at the attorney’s normal hourly rate.
Affordable Hourly Rates
Many matters are billed hourly because it is often impossible to predict the exact amount of time necessary to deliver the best outcome for our clients. This is true for most law firms; however, our hourly rates are often more affordable than others. Our attorneys charge between $200/hour and $400/hour depending on each attorney’s level of experience. We aim to match the right attorney to each matter based on the degree of complexity. In some cases, multiple attorneys will work on one matter, and we aim to assign work to attorneys with lower billing rates when appropriate.
Most new clients will be required to pay a retainer deposit. These funds are held in a separate law firm trust account and are used to apply toward our invoices as we work on a matter. Depending on the length of the matter, clients may be required to replenish their retainer as the funds are depleted to ensure there are always some funds on deposit available to cover future work. The amount of the retainer is decided by each attorney after learning more about your legal matter.
Flat Fees and Contingent Fees
Some types of legal matters are billed a flat fee. This is appropriate for routine projects where we can predict the amount of time necessary to complete the matter.
In limited types of cases, we also offer contingent fees which means clients do not pay anything unless and until we are successful in recovering money from another party. This is usually limited to automobile accents and other types of personal injury cases where there is an insurance policy available to pay the recovery.
Many law firms will pass certain costs to their clients as “case expenses.” We do not. Here are just a few examples of expenses that are no charge to our clients:
- No charge for regular postage
- No charge for regular copies
- No charge for legal research subscriptions
- No charge for administrative tasks
- No charge for meals and other local expenses while traveling
- No charge to review billing and prepare invoices
