A Middletown, Ohio area church decided it was time to close its doors after many decades. The church leaders wanted to make sure they complied with the church doctrine and non-profit laws.

Our firm filed a special type of lawsuit in Common Pleas Court to seek the Court’s approval to liquidate the church’s assets and distribute the proceeds for appropriate non-profit purposes. The Court approved the entire process. The church’s real estate and other assets were all sold to a new church in the area that is looking to grow. All proceeds were donated to various charitable organizations. Most importantly, the church leaders have the assurance they need that no church members or prior pastors could ever object to the sale in the future.
